It is no secret that breaking through the music scene in Ghana can be a very tedious task, especially if the artist does not sing in the Akan language and is not based in the capital, Accra.
One of such musicians who has been able to break through all odds is the King of the North, Fancy Gadam and he’s fully confident of breaking several other barriers.
Fancy Gadam, in an interview with Amansan Krakye of Radio Central in Cape Coast stated that winning the VGMA Artist of the year as a Northern based artist is one of the barriers he hopes to break in the near future.
“It’s not easy to promote a song for nationwide recognition, but for you to do that you need to come to Accra since most of our media houses with nationwide viewers are stationed in Accra. It will not be easy though for a northern based musician to win the VGMA Artiste of the year award, but I’m full of surprises and I can assure you I’m the only person who can win that award,” he sated.
The “Gadam Nation” boss listed some major feats he has been able to achieve that makes him viable for the VGMA Artist of the year title.
“Looking at how i won my previous awards at the VGMA coupled with my recent award at the Ghana Entertainment Awards in the USA where I beat some popular artistes to win the ultimate award, I believe I can do it,” he added.
Fancy Gadam has won two awards at the VGMAs so far, Best New artiste of the year and most popular song of the year.
Let’s see which other award he will be picking up with his soon to be released album, “Dream”.
Fancy Gadam is currently promoting the first single off the “Dream” album, “3b3y3 yie”.
