Rufftown Records signee, Wendy Shay has revealed that she got death threats from unknown people for trying to act like the late Ebony Reigns.
Wendy Shay, who has faced a lot of backlash from Ebony fans since she got signed to the record label stated that she has never wanted to be like the late singer.
“I had death threats; people telling me all kinds of things like they will kill me if I do not stop music, if I do not stop being like Ebony. I can never be her and I got confused because I was never like her, I have never wanted to be like her,” she said in an interview with ShowBiz
Wendy added that she fell in love and was inspired by Ebony’s confidence but never got to meet her before she passed on.
“Ebony stood for Afrobeats, she was herself and did what she loved. That inspired me and I fell in love with her. I had wanted to meet her but unfortunately, she passed on. I was and I’m still a fan of Ebony,” she added.
Speaking on Bullet making her act like the late singer, Wendy clarified that her boss’s goal is to make all artistes signed under him comfortable.S
“Bullet is also one person who makes sure his artistes are comfortable. He is good at that so it gives us no option than to be ourselves and excel in our dealings,” she stated.
Wendy Shay came into the limelight in 2018 with her hit single “Uber Driver”. She has since done amazing for herself, releasing hits back to back and performing on all major platforms in Ghana.
She was also adjudged the Best New Artist at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
